5 Good Things–18

Posted on February 4, 2021 by Jennifer Glenn

Sometimes it seems that’s there’s only bad news, but remember there is always good news too–it just takes a little searching. This is my attempt to find it and share it. Just click the links to read the stories–I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

1. South Carolina Principal Takes Night Job at Walmart to Support Struggling Students. Henry Darby is the principal of a high school in North Charleston, South Carolina. He saw the needs of the kids in his school and was determined to do something about it. Ninety percent of the kids in his high school live below the poverty line, so he got a night job at Walmart stocking shelves and uses that paycheck to help them. What’s really cool, is that Walmart heard about his efforts and decided to donate $50000 towards his efforts. This man deserves a standing ovation. Well done Mr. Darby!

2. Little Boy’s Stuffed Bambi Was Rescued From Frozen Canal. Oh. my. heart. Four year old Nico lost his favorite stuffed animal on a frozen canal when his baby brother pitched it over the railing. Poor Nico was heartbroken, but his mother didn’t hold out much hope that they could ever get him back. On Nico’s insistence, she reached out to her community and low and behold they banded together and rescued the stuffed animal and reunited it with Nico. This story holds special meaning to me as I know full well the love my boys have for “Blue”(Morgan’s stuffed elephant) and “Baby” (Grayson’s stuffed dog)–they are like members of our family.

3.Dinosaur Unearthed in Argentina Could Be the Largest Animal That Ever Walked the Earth.   They started unearthing this giant back in 2012. It’s a titanosauria which is a species that is known to reach lengths of 122 feet from nose to tail. Good grief! I have a fascination with dinosaurs, but am really, really thankful that God didn’t put us on the earth at the same time as them. Can you imagine how puny we would feel?

4. Sassy Iguana Poses Like a Super Model at a Beach. Chaiwat Daenglrachang owns several iguana’s and had them out enjoying some sunshine when one of them, Mhontong, struck a super model like pose. Move over Kate Upton, you can’t compete with Mhontong in his mango colored reptile suit.

5. NFL Giving Away 7500 Free Super Bowl Tickets to Health Care Workers. Some very lucky health care workers from all 32 NFL clubs will be selected as honored guests for this Sunday’s Super Bowl. I am so happy for them and hope they’ll all be cheering for the Chiefs.

What good things have you heard about this week? Feel free to share anything you find and remember–keep smiling!
