Movies and Shows to Watch–Episode 104

Posted on October 26, 2025 by Jennifer Glenn

The month of September was all about The Fast and Furious movies, but we did watch a newer one on Prime too. There are links to IMdb.com where you can find descriptions, trailers, and all the information you need about the movie. You can also find their parent guide information if you just scroll down a bit. Pluggedin.com is also a great resource to learn more about the content of movies, tv shows, games, books, and YouTube channel. Here’s what we watched:

1. The Fast and the Furious. Super Rockstar and I have seen all the Fast and the Furious movies, but the boys had only seen 3 of them. Even though I’m not a fan of all the scantily dressed women and the directors over obsession with showing butts, they are good action movies–full of fast cars and testosterone. Perfect for teenage boys. The first one is all about the car races. Lots of NOS, over abundance of camera shots of the drivers shifting gears and Vin Diesel (who plays the main character Dominic Toretto) flexing his muscles.

2. 2 Fast 2 Furious. One of the things I’ve always found intriguing about this movie series is that the entire series revolves around the character Dom Toretto, but this second movie doesn’t even have him in it. Instead it focuses on the character, Brian O’Conner (played by Paul Walker)–who played an FBI agent trying to take down Toretto’s crime ring in the first one. A new character is introduced in this one –Roman (played by Tyrese Gibson). They team up to take down a drug lord. More car racing and gear shifting, but not as much muscle flexing.

3. Fast and Furious. They haven’t spoken since Dom found out Brian was an FBI agent, but now the two team up to take down a mutual enemy. They introduce a lot of cool stunts in this one and thank goodness there is enough NOS to catapult them through several high-speed chases. I believe this is when the word “family” starts getting used a lot.

4. Fast Five. The whole cast is involved in this one. Since they are all fugitives, they make a deal to take down a Brazilian drug lord. The stunts definitely get more wild–think 007 meets mission impossible meets Pirates of the Caribbean. The character Hobbs (played by Dwayne Johnson) is introduced in this one as a relentless agent trying to put the entire team in prison. LOTS of muscle flexing in this one, family, family, family, and of course–high speed chases.

5. Fast & Furious 6. More impossible stunts, more muscle flexing. Family. BUT we find out Letty–who was thought dead–is very much alive, has amnesia and is working for the bad guys. It’s also awkward because Dom has been dating another woman. It complicates matters for Dom, but in the end, he is able to rescue his love and save the day. Also, the character Shaw (played by Jason Statham) is introduced in this one.

6. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. This is another side story movie. If you watch the movies in order of release–this one doesn’t really make any sense. It’s the story of Han going to Tokyo. It helps to watch them in order of the timeline of the overall story of the movies. None of the other characters from previous movies are in it. From this point on in the series–the writers go to great lengths to make this movie make sense in the overall story.

7. The Naked Gun. This newer movie featuring Liam Neeson playing Frank Drebin Jr. is a reboot of the 1980’s movies.  I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it. Pamela Anderson does a great job in her comedic role as Beth Davenport. And there are some nice nods to the original movies. It’s available to rent on Prime. We all liked it.

8. Elementary. I love this series so much. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the actor who plays Sherlock in anything since–but he does an incredible job with the character in this TV series.

I’m now ready to drive really fast and shift gears for no reason at all. I would love to hear what you’re watching.
