Movies:
1. A Minecraft Movie. Even though our boys have both enjoyed playing the Minecraft video game in the past–neither of them seemed interested in seeing this movie. But Super Rockstar and I kept hearing that it was good, and since it had been a while since we had seen a movie in the theater, we finally convinced our them to go see it with us. We should have listened to our boys–it wasn’t very good at all. It has some decent moments here and there–Jason Momoa is probably it’s saving grace, but I’m sorry we spent a small fortune to see it in the theater. It’s a rental at best. If I had it to do over again, I’d wait until one of our streaming services offered it for free. Oh well, at least the movie theater we go to (Icon Cinemas) has unlimited refills on popcorn and drinks.
2. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. We, of course, have seen this movie countless times–all of us are huge Star Wars fans. But, our boys had never seen this one in theaters on the big screen. I’m so glad we did. It was SO good!
TV Shows:
1. The Chosen: Seasons 1-4. Super Rockstar and I had started watching this series a few years ago when it was first released–it was only available to stream on The Chosen app. Now, it’s available (with ads) on Prime and the boys were interested in watching it with us. I can’t even begin to describe how good this series is. We LOVE it. The writing is incredible, and I love the portrayal of Jesus and all of the disciples (Mathew is a favorite for all of us). We can’t wait for season 5 to be available in mid-June.
2. 1923: Seasons 1&2. We had to re-watch season 1 to get us back into the story for season 2. The saga of the Dutton family’s beginnings is compelling and exciting. I sometimes think there is way too much adult content, and it seems often overdone and unnecessary to get the point across, but I do love the story. I’m looking forward to the next installment of 1943–that will star Mathew McConaughey as the next Dutton in the lineage.
3. Elementary. Super Rockstar and I continue to enjoy re-watching this series. I have such a love (and fascination) with any portrayal of Sherlock Holmes –this one is exceptional.
That’s all for now. I would love to hear your opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch. Tune in next time for an updated list from us.
